The United States continues to be divided on this subject by the wielding of religious beliefs by citizens who believe that those beliefs should be the driving force behind laws that make their neighbors, regardless of their neighbor’s own beliefs, toe the line to their religious tenets. In a country founded on the premise of freedom of and from religion, this is seen as outrageous by those of us who support gay marriage.
